This Epsilon 40 yacht was built at the Landy shipyard in 1975 to designs by architects Joubert and Nivelt.
The current and second owner, who bought her in 1997, completely rebuilt her; only the hull was kept. The aim was to turn her into a modern boat for long-distance sailing in the polar regions.
She was launched in 2000 and completed in 2009. The hull was sandblasted inside and out and professionally refitted in ‘Khaya’ Mahogany. After treatment with zinc epoxy, the interior was insulated by spraying closed-cell polyurethane foam with a density of 35kg/m3. The thickness varies between 6 and 8 cm, up to 10 cm below the waterline. The exterior has also been sandblasted and treated with 8 coats of epoxy (Hempel Quatro).
The boat was lengthened by adding a platform at the stern and a bowsprit at the bow.
From 2009 to the present day, the boat has only sailed for 3-4 months a year (due to the owner's busy lifestyle). Her cruises have taken her from Spain to the Canaries, Cape Verde, Senegal, Gambia, Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina, Antarctica, Chile (Patagonia), Easter Island, Pitcairn, the Gambiers and finally the Marquesas Islands, where the boat is currently based.
The owner is selling it following a change of plans and the purchase of a larger boat.
