Crealock 37 cutter sailboat built in 1981 by the Pacific Seacraft shipyard from Bill Crealock's designs.
She has been carefully improved and well maintained by her owners. She has a half circumnavigations under her belt, and many hours of love and maintenance, she is as strong and reliable as ever..
The (few) problems common to older Pacific Seacrafts have all been addressed: some older models had problems with osmotic blistering on the hull (due to use of polyester resin). In 2015 the hull was stripped down and epoxy barrier coated to prevent osmostic blistering. Many older PSC report rusting out of the bottom of the main diesel tank. Indy had a new custom built SS tank installed in 2015. Lastly, many of the older PSC’s had problems with the galley sink being below the waterline. We fixed this is 2020 with a custom built stainless sink.
We have had some great adventures on this yacht and our trip is coming to an end. We would love to see her go to someone who loves the feeling of being at the helm of an excellent, elegant, and fun sailing boat while exploring far off places.
She is rigged for safe, fast sailing. All lines are led aft to the cockpit. We recently set up double-line reefing so that the mainsail can be reefed entirely from the safety of the cockpit. The cutter rig with a yankee cut jib is perfect for offshore work–balanced, powerful, and easy to handle. The 130% drifter is absolutely amazing. It keeps us sailing in light air when we’d be otherwise motoring, its strong enough to survive squalls, and its less fussy than a spinnaker.
We’ve made some great upgrades for living aboard. Our solar panels generate enough power to meet all of our electrical needs–including running the watermaker. We expanded the sleeping area of the v-berth and created a large storage area. Indy has tons of storage for a PSC 37–cabinets over both the chart table and galley sink, plus a custom built radio cabinet and a salon shelf. We’ve upgraded the lighting to illuminate the galley and salon areas. Indy is cozy and bright down below. Indy is great for a single hander or a couple who are ready to cast off the lines, and go explore the world!
The next owners can come aboard in March and start living the dream!
