Sailboat of the Grand-Duc 44 type, designed in 1988 by the architect Patrick Phélippon, and fitted out and decked by her first owner for his own circumnavigation family trip.
The fiberglass hull was built at the Phélippon shipyard in La Rochelle using the C-FLEX process (longitudinal glass tube reinforcements on a male mold). The deck is made of marine plywood, laminated on her upper side. Large foam sandwich roof for an increased, bright and very ventilated interior space.
Her beautiful hull makes her a very seaworthy and performing sailboat. Her design, as a ballasted dinghy with cast iron keel and laminated daggerboard, guarantees a good weight stability and a good capacity to go upwind, while allowing her to go everywhere and to reach the most beautiful anchorages. Tiller. A very welcoming boat, simple, without linings, healthy, clean and efficient.
Bought in 2018 to replace my previous sailboat, which had become too small for the family. The boat had a like-new engine, very nice sails, a J PROP propeller, a very good reputation locally as to her racing performance and a large living space. The whole thing still needed a good renovation and some modifications to be to my liking. As a professional of the domain for more than thirty years, I made it the ideal boat for me to live aboard and sail in Polynesia.
Now I have to leave and decide to sell her.
The boat arrived in Polynesia in 1991 with her first owner who replaced the engine and the standing rigging between 2004 and 2005 and the propeller in 2008. Sold in 2013 to a second owner who installs a new windlass, replaces the diesel tank and redoes the exterior paint without ever leaving Polynesia.
We purchased her in 2018 and did the following work:
Rebuilt and modified all interior fittings.
Renovation of the electrical system with relocation of the cabinet.
Renovation of the water tanks on the port side with epoxy resin lamination.
Replacement of the starboard water tanks with special drinking water tanks.
Revision of the rigging with replacement of all the stainless steel chainplates and repair of the waterproofing.
Drying and renovation of the hull with epoxy resin lamination of 2 x 300 g biaxial fabric.
Construction of bimini in Erex sandwich.
Construction of Erex sandwich cap.
Renovation of the on-board electronics with installation of auto pilot on mains and rudder compensation.
